A root canal is a form of endodontic treatment designed to restore a tooth that has been severely compromised by an untreated cavity or a significant dental fracture. Unfortunately, there are some rare occasions when the trauma to the tooth, root, or underlying dental socket is so severe that a root canal cannot viably treat it.

In a situation like this Dr. Kevin Caldwell might recommend extracting the remnants of the tooth. Afterward, he might provide you with a prescription for antibiotics or pain management medication.

When your gums are ready, Dr. Kevin Caldwell can restore the tooth’s presence in your mouth with a dental bridge.

This is a solid piece of dental work that mimics the appearance of a natural tooth that has been fused to a pair of crowns. Each end of the dental bridge will be cemented onto abutments formed out of the core of the two neighboring teeth.

It will need to be created in a special dental lab according to the exacting standards set by an impression Dr. Kevin Caldwell creates. When your dental bridge is ready, you will need to return to our dental office to have it cemented in place with a strong dental adhesive.

If you are suffering from a severely compromised tooth and you are in the Webb City, Missouri area, you should call 417.673.1988 to have it treated at Kevin L. Caldwell, DDS, PC.
